High Health Hazard. Cocamide DEA/MEA are possible carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) with contamination concerns.

Cocamide DEA and Cocamide MEA are commonly found in detergents and personal care products. They act as foam stabilizers to boost foam and produce long lasting bubbles, creating the illusion of better cleansing performance. The IARC showed that dermal application of Cocamide DEA has been found to cause cancer in mice. This classifies Cocamide DEA as 'possibly carcinogenic to humans'. Free DEA in Cocamide DEA can also react with nitrites in cosmetics to form nitrosamines, a suspected human carcinogen. REFERENCES: (1. IARC Monographs N-NITROSODIETHANOLAMINE 2.
